Walking on Ice

Also: see details of Chadar Expedition in January 2012, lead by tour leader Manish Lakhani

When I was spending the summer in Ladakh last year, one thing that caught my eye prominently is the ads that travel agents displayed about Chadar Trek. Chadar Trek is a winter walk on the surface of frozen Zanskar river. The pictures I saw made it obvious that it is a magical journey walking on ice, watching the superb blue Zanskar treading through narrow valleys. It is something I would like to do desperately. Manish, who made the journey this winter shares his photos and experience on oktatabyebye.

There are few if any adventure treks in the Himalaya to match the Chadar winter expedition for sheer, awe inspiring beauty, and none to match it in terms of day to day challenge and excitement.

I Heart My City

National Geographic Traveler magazine’s online blog – ‘Intelligent Travel Blog’ is running a feature on cities called ‘I Heart My City’. Anyone can participate and fill in two dozen blanks to describe the city they live in. I thought I will send an entry from Bangalore, but quickly found it hard to fill up many of those blanks. Would you like to give it a go? Give it a try and see how much can you fill in easily.
