Leaves

leaves

While I was in Devarayanadurga, I was attracted by the way these stems projected skywards and the tiny leaves at the tip spread like a fan. To get the picture I wanted, I had to spend a few minutes standing very close to this plant, sometimes pushing a few stems to position myself properly. Some resin from the plant must have rubbed into my hand while I did this. A minute later while I was still trying to get variations of this image, I realized that an excellent aroma effused from the tiny bit of resin that was stuck on my palm. I pulled out a leaf and smelled it to check if it would have a similar smell. Incredibly, the leaves smelled like a fine variety of mangoes called jeerige mavinakayi that grows in malnad area, often used in making pickles.

Any idea what is this plant called?
