Here is the desktop calendar wallpaper for April 2013 – a chestnut headed bee-eater with mountains of Munnar in the background. Download the calendar at 1336×768 or 1024×768 for your desktop.
In the past, I have created wallpaper sizes based on the monitor resolution of readers of this blog. Before the advent of hand held devices, most display devices came in standard sizes and the top three monitor resolutions would account for nearly 80% of the readers. Now, with a large variety of devices in use, there are simply too many resolutions and the top three monitor resolutions now make up less than 50% of the readers. After some thinking, I have decided to make the calendar available in two sizes now on, which are chosen such that either of the two can be stretched to fit on most devices without making the image appear very skewed. Please bear with this.
If you have been reading this blog on RSS, you may not have noticed the small changes that have been regularly happening on the look and feel of this blog. Over the past few months, I have been working on some template changes, which is now nearly complete. The blog now is –
- Renamed as ‘India Travel & Photography Blog’ from its earlier title of ‘India Travel Blog’. In the past year or so, the focus on this blog towards travel photography has increased considerably. So, I thought a change in name would be appropriate.
- Posting big pictures. The world is moving towards bigger pictures and it only made sense to follow suit. Although the blog has been hosting large size images for nearly a year now, the restrictions with the old template required that the reader click on an image to see the larger version. This additional step is no longer necessary.
- Look and feel changes. The template has been modified to take larger images. The cluttered side bar has been knocked out to improve the reading/picture-viewing experience. The overall look is made much simpler than it was before. I think it is also easier now for new visitors to get a good idea of the content paintedstork.com is.
- Having mobile version of the site as well. This version is in place for a few months now. If you haven’t already seen it, visit http://travel.paintedstork.com/blog/ using your mobile to see a sleek version that is easy to read on a mobile phone.
The changes on paintedstork.com are not limited to the blog. The homepage now has a swanky, professional design. A new image gallery is in place, which is conveniently accessed from the home page. The contents of the image gallery are being uploaded slowly and may take a few months to complete.
A few changes are still in progress. Soon to be added is a revamped mailing list, with the old one being dysfunctional for a long time now. An option to read posts via email will be made available as well.
Up next, after compiling images from Hampi and Rajasthan, here is a collection of images of Landscapes of India – mountains, hills, deserts, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, flowers and much more. They were created over a period of nearly 8 years, travelling across the country.
